Last night we celebrated with Bob Isherwood his Clio in recognition of his professional life achievements, and we especially applauded when Bob thanked the recognition by saying that he hoped to be the first person to receive this award twice in his lifetime.
In other words, Bob is not retiring, he doesn’t think he’s on the home stretch, and he wants to continue reaping many more successes as Global Creative Director of one of the most creative agencies on the planet. Personally, I celebrated his simplicity, his sensitive and human way of expressing himself, and with it, this living legend of world advertising expressed himself in a way that is particularly characteristic of those who know they have nothing to prove.
Made up and dressed like a living statue, he was praised by many people on stage, including his partner and friend, Kevin Roberts. His wife, Rhonda, was in the front row enjoying this massive demonstration of love and appreciation for the great Australian creative director, whose successes began at his own agency, The Campaign Palace.
Kevin told his anecdote of how he met Bob, precisely as a client during a pitch, as well as how they immediately connected. It was Bob who 10 years later provoked Kevin and led him to the top position of this advertising organization in the world.
It was an especially emotional evening, and for what it’s worth, an opportunity to learn from these events and how in other latitudes the successes of others are celebrated without rancor or envy, at least once in a lifetime.
Today we remember your visit to Tribu last year, and we heartily appreciate your affection and motivation.
For the great creative, the inspiring leader, for the human being and personal friend, in three words, I LOVE BOB.
