To score a goal, you have to kick it into the frame. To achieve something, you must first try. To win, you have to participate first. To hunt a lion, you have to aim, believe it is possible and pull the trigger. It’s simple: either we dare or we get stuck, either we launch or we stagnate.
I like the idea of being a dreamer, as long as it is concrete. It makes sense to fly with your imagination, if at some point you land. It is natural for us to aspire and desire, however, it is not so natural to break our backs in the sun, sweat our ideas until dawn or pay the price to learn. What is certain, however, is that there is no such thing as a free lunch.
We are going to Cannes to continue learning, to measure ourselves against the greats, to connect and look for options, and well, who knows, Paula and Carlos may bring home a medal with the desired Lion in the Young Creatives Film Competition. At Tribu and throughout Saatchi worldwide, we define our attitude with a Nothing is Impossible, a phrase that greets all our visitors at the main entrance on the second floor. Your approach, whatever the brief in the competition, will be to connect emotionally with people, attentive to provoke intimacy, mystery and sensuality, perhaps to laugh and enjoy, but always to seduce, because the art of advertising is precisely the art of seduction.
Possibly some might go for impact, to make a fuss, to shout or interrupt, to insist and sell. Paula and Carlos know Lovemarks to the core of their hearts, and therefore, it will not be strange to see them focusing on our emotional essence as wonderful and creative storytellers.
Here I am at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris, right now, waiting for the connection to Nice. Later Paula and Carlos, our two Tribu creatives, will arrive. I will go ahead and wait for them there for about three hours to go together to Cannes, which is about an hour away, depending on traffic of course.
It’s midnight in Central America. Here it is already 8 o’clock on Saturday morning. It is time to continue the journey, the journey of life, the journey of our careers, our dreams and illusions, everyone’s journey, and yes, the one we three are making for now as well.
Who takes away a remove…
