A few days ago a simple question was asked: who in the world is Jorge Oller? And of course, the answer is not easy. Compared to Nelson Mandela, no one; compared to George W. Bush, better. However, I ask: and why compared to anyone? The question is clear and does not ask for comparison. So, let’s not even continue with this line.
Let’s put it for a moment then, from another perspective: And who in the world are you, so that it is not just about me or me alone. The answer is simple, since in my case, I am Jorge, although if you want a little more, I am the son of Mayra and Fernando, brother of José, Carlos and Fernando, married to Alexandra and father of Santiago and Adriana. What? Do you need more?
I am from Costa Rica, a beautiful boutique country in the center of America, where 26% of the national territory is reserved for the conservation of our nature, which has no army, produces the computer chips in which you read this blog, no illiteracy for decades and has a Nobel Peace Prize winner as president. Maybe this doesn’t say much, but clearly these are different arguments from any other country in the world.
I understand. This does not answer the question either, because it specifically asks who you are, and not where you come from, nor what family you are part of. Right? I insist then: who in the world are you?
I’m going again. I am a publicist of 29 years of career, manager by accident, master in business administration graduated although not tamed, entrepreneur at times, amateur chess player, marathon runner at soft, advertising creative awarded by life, Christian in daily struggle, I speak Spanish, Tico, English, Mexican and Honduran, as well as Puerto Rican, Argentinean and Peruvian. Am I doing better?
No. I still think the question remains unanswered, as you are clearly a little bit of things you have done, and a few things you have said. However, it is not in brief and concrete what you are, and because of this, you end up more in description than in definition. So, who in the world am I (…and you?)?
Ah. Yes, the answer is in two letters: me. Of course, as simple as that, I am me. And what I am not, I am not. Everything I say in my favor possibly does not define me, and therefore, neither does what is said against me. At the end of the day, I, or you, are simply what we are… today.
As we are not bottle, jar or can, nor box, label or finished product, every day I change, and so do you. The question then is wrongly posed and you will never be able to answer it, because you are never simply you. And you are only today, because tomorrow you will be a little different. It is also true that the definition of the world is totally relative, and therefore, do not forget that you will always see it in the color of the crystal with which you look at it.
So, who are you today in your world? I give up. I don’t even try to answer it here, and again, as if to keep on hitting the same side, they call me conceited, a braggart, and a prig, although I would argue that it would simply be descriptive. In any case, I leave the answer to me and mine, if there is one, which is possibly how yours should be.
Having said all this, here playing with the keys of my laptop, this is my space and my blog, I tell you that I am the same as yesterday, only I think I am a little better, as well as I am committed to be again tomorrow. Maybe it is that I am not, but I am.
Are you?
