Today, Thursday again we stop the country with another day off, in this case, of a deep and profound religious character, celebrating the day of the venerated Virgin of the Angels. This day is celebrated with a massive pilgrimage to the city of Cartago, in fulfillment of thousands of promises kept according to the Catholic faith of our country.
In our most intimate circle of love, I believe that we are composed of an adult self, an inner child and a Higher Self. The balance as people is achieved precisely when we achieve that in the car of our lives, at the wheel is the adult, in the passenger seat your Higher Self and present in the back seat, your inner child. If one of the three is missing, our existence is incomplete and unbalanced. If one is missing, the others are affected or absent, and with that, painful consequences are generated in life.
There are people who, because of their deep faith and trust in God, give the steering wheel of their life to their Higher Self. With a balanced presence of the three parts, this is possibly the best condition. However, what can only be a sure disaster is when the car of our lives is driven by our inner child, for nothing good can come from such immature hands in the driver’s seat. It is worth mentioning briefly, as a condition of our complexity, how recursive we are naturally to avoid the pain caused by imbalances, and how in effect the defense mechanisms anesthetize and cover up to keep away what hurts or is not there, what hurts or affects us.
We cannot be complete without our spirituality resolved, nor can we achieve balance without a healthy presence of our other two dimensions, if we accept this Trinitarian vision as valid at least for a moment. The virtues and deficiencies of each dimension complement each other, and therefore, adult and child become indispensable conditions in our existence.
However, whatever your origin or belief, if to the adult and the child in you do not add a sincere spirituality, resolute and sustained, you can certainly anticipate certain failure in the search for balance and equilibrium, a desirable condition for a legitimate success in life. In the first instance, this is my proposal, although it is more solid if you allow me to add that I believe that such spirituality is life in Christ, and that indeed it is only through our faith in Him that we will have access to eternal life in the presence of the Father. Otherwise, it is quite possible that we can anticipate a life in His absence.
As I mentioned in another article, there is no such thing as cold but absence of heat. Nor is there such a thing as darkness, but the absence of light. Likewise, I am convinced that there is no such thing as evil, but the absence of God. These are powerful ideas that add to connect us with what is real and concrete, what is certain and tangible, such as the crucial importance of life that has the balance of this inner trinity, the adult self, the inner child and the Higher Self.
Believe or not in the miraculous apparition of the Virgin of the Angels, heart, mind and spirit in harmony forever is my wish for the day. Just another holiday, one of deep spiritual significance.
