Yesterday, agencies in the region turned to the lists of Finalists published on the Caribbean site, https://www.festivalcaribe.com/home.asp, to find a significant number of entries from Costa Rica on the short list in the different categories.
It seemed to me that Ogilvy Costa Rica is the agency with the most pieces among the finalists, as well as Tribu, DDB, Garnier BBDO, JWT and Jotabeqú. The short list does not publish the corresponding agencies and because of this, there are many works presented that make me doubt whether they are from one agency or another. For those who are not familiar with these terms, a short-list is made of all the pieces entered and published, eliminating many competing works. Then from that list come out the bronzes, silvers and golds, when there are any, to then choose the Grand Prix in each category, as well as usually, the Grand Prix of the Festival that comes out of the competing categories.
What is certain in this Caribbean, however, is that Panama and Guatemala have a significant number of finalists as well, and that if we limit ourselves to Central America to analyze the performance of our country, the competition is tight and not necessarily in our favor. Nevertheless, I am optimistic to see the country with better results and one step ahead, to retake the creative leadership in our small region. Then we will go on to others. By the way, it also seemed to me that El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua are almost absent from the creative competition in Panama.
Between today and tomorrow the Caribbean jury will finish assigning Golds and Grand Prix. From the tribal delegates in Panama, we are waiting for news!
