After Costa Rica won the 2008 Caribbean as the most creative country of the festival in Panama, many agencies opted not to participate this year in response to last year’s poor organization and awarding of prizes.
More than 15 people from Tribu attended the Caribbean, only to return disappointed with the low level of the festival. Likewise, comments were not long in coming from many other agencies who complained and added negative comments about what seems from a distance to be an endangered event.
For this reason, in a year where the Caribbean is on the decline, Tribu Saatchi Saatchi decided not to participate and thus reserve resources for other festivals of greater relevance. We assume that most of the agencies that won last year, a total of seven from Costa Rica, will not be in Panama either.
In the meantime, registration for the New York Festivals is already closed, Fiap and Clio are coming as well. Of course, Cannes returns in June and for what it’s worth, all our efforts will continue to be focused there. I would like to remind you that in 2009, two Costa Rican duos will have the option of winning the Young Lions Competition.
