The process to select the pairs that will participate for a Film and a Print slot in the next great Cannes Lions festival in France has begun. With many difficulties and without enough money yet, from ASCAP we decided to move forward for many reasons and with the support of all.
First of all, I want to highlight in La Nación an organization as committed as ASCAP itself in making this happen. Alejandro Urbina and Mariela Rodriguez have put all their possible resources to support the Young Lions for another year, and with this, we will count on the strength of La Nación to support the entire competition at Print.
At the same time, and given that we got in London last year, one more space for Costa Rica and thus send two pairs, (we did not count on the crisis!), today ASCAP also has the invaluable and enthusiastic support of Teletica to promote the Film competition. Thus, in René Picado, Hilda Zúñiga and her team we also find today a very important support to make possible the campaign and the dissemination of the process that will choose one more duo.
While we are still looking for more sponsors to have the necessary resources, the agencies Leo Burnett, Grafos, Publimark, jotabeqú, HWP, Ogilvy and Tribu accepted ASCAP’s invitation and decided to make additional contributions to the bank that we are doing together to send the two duos to Cannes. And to do it all together, because pinching a donkey kills a donkey, with the required registration fee of $25 per person, we will also obtain an additional and much needed income to raise the necessary funds.
Finally, and as it is possible that we still do not have all the Euros needed to cover all the expenses, ASCAP in its last Board meeting approved to resort to its reserves (humbly call them savings) and thus cover the shortfall that may occur in the process and thus ensure the participation of two couples in Cannes next June.
And why all this effort? Because we are convinced that no evil lasts 100 years, because we are optimistic and believe in the formation of a creative cluster in Costa Rica, because we know that our young talent will recognize, appreciate and appreciate it, because we want to stimulate them as much as possible, because there is commitment and refusal to fail, because we are people of drive and because, against all odds, we are transforming our country for a better tomorrow.
Greetings, and to all the participants in the Young Lions 2009, congratulations for participating, you are already winners just by entering the competition and go ahead, it is an opportunity that is served on the table, and as we all know, it has not come easy.
So let’s go ahead with Cannes, convinced that we can do it together.
all of us.
