When you count the years in decades and one or two are no longer enough, it is time to recognize the ball or pineapple, whatever you want to call it, but clearly the amount of time that has accumulated as in my case and in advertising.

I could share a lot about what these 30 years have been since I started the journey at McCann-Erickson Costa Rica in 1989, and yet, I am most moved by the simplest and deepest truth: I feel grateful. With God, of course, with many wonderful people along the way, with a few that turned out to be the opposite, with everything that advertising has given me in life and how much more it will surely give me.

For this reason, on a much smaller scale and with total humility I recognize it, I have been focused for some time on giving back a little bit at least. Supporting in the guild, serving in the creative, opening spaces as much as possible and above all, serving as a bridge in everything that is within my reach. Surely nothing in return for so much and for so many years, but certainly my sincere and heartfelt contribution.

It strikes me to think that 30 years ago I was just starting out in this, while most of the readers of my blog are not even that age. It amazes me that this is happening while I feel better than ever, stronger and more full of plans and projects than ever before, as it also thrills me to be surrounded by the best tribe in the world, because it is certainly the best Tribe that has ever existed.

As we enter 2009, a special thanks to our clients and friends who make Tribu their agency, and our partner companies, the communication and branding group they rely on for their business. Everything we do is sustainable, incremental and, of course, relational. In everything we do, we influence more and more every day to create brands that inspire loyalty and seduce like few others.

30 years after the first day, satisfied and unhappy, always grateful.
