Today I received the link to this video and it really touched me, even though I was raised as a child in the Methodist church. And as I firmly believe that Jesus is who He said He is, I also believe in different possible routes to reach His destination, if we follow the direction we find in the Bible.

Over the past few years I have been one of the driving forces behind The Openhouse Project, an informal para-church organization, as I confess a particular difficulty with the conventional or ritualistic church, including my own original one. Nor do I feel comfortable in noisy churches, to call them fanatical or largely extremist. In general, I find them too strong and distant experiences, creating an involuntary barrier with those who are not inside.

For this reason, in our Openhouse we have brought video messages from a church for people who don’t like the traditional church, called North Point Community Church. This approach or format has been key for me and I have been able to sustain for years an intimate and personal relationship with God. With strict biblical content and great depth, the messages are divided into series of four or five talks that touch on various topics of great relevance and current affairs.

However, in a mostly Catholic country, there are many far away people who could find their way back to a relationship with Jesus through their original Catholic church. And a message like the one in this video could certainly encourage many people to come back, because it presents a vision of the Catholic Church that moves even those of us who are not Catholics. So if you are far away from the Catholic Church, if you are among the Catholics who have fallen away, here you have a website dedicated to you, which is in this link. And of course, our countries are full of Catholic churches so there is no one who can say they don’t know where to find one.

Truly and wholeheartedly, I believe that it doesn’t matter the route taken if the destination finally leads to a life pleasing to God. This is why I prefer to stay away from the differences and focus on the coincidences, for in essence we are all clear that we will only reach the Father through our faith in his Son, guided in our lives by the Bible and the legitimate freedom that can only be achieved under his authority and influence.
