Today we have celebrated in Cannes a new Lion for Costa Rica for jotabeqú and its extraordinary case “Virtual Pilgrimage” for the Catholic Church, although I am still dying to see which was the case that could have taken away the gold it deserved. However, I recognize that maybe it is gluttony on my part because of the admiration and emotion I feel for this great idea of our colleagues in jotabeqú, because the sense of opportunity it had at the time, the way it grew and became a case of popular and recognized success, impresses me. And well, today it is justly deserving of Silver in the world of creativity.
Costa Rica already has 8 Lions and thanks to this last one for jotabeqú, it has won 3 consecutive years with statuettes for the country. When a few years ago we presented ASCAP as the new representative of the festival at Cannes Lions, I told about our biodiversity and ecological wealth, although I had to accept that we did not have Lions. Today we have to celebrate that the biodiversity of our country is even greater with Gold, Silver and Bronze Lions, to recognize that creativity is also a world-class Costa Rican resource.

While the celebration in jotabeqú must be at its best, I tell you about JWT’s presentation by the Global CEO and Fernando Vega Olmos, (I don’t know the name of the big boss, and I don’t know Fernando’s title), and I listened next to Dirk Stammes from Leo Burnett Costa Rica, Alberto Quirós from jotabeqú and Manolo Gavilán from Ogilvy Costa Rica, all for their agencies and ASCAP, as well as the Young Lions ticos, Cachorro, Gorileo and more ticos in the room. All without exception we have applauded the cases presented, while the excitement of the Silver Lion for Romería Virtual has us excited.

Cannes is pure inspiration. The one that encourages you to keep fighting to get there, like the one that moves me with every challenge. It ignites more for the impressive magnetism at the height of the summit, as for the adventure, the challenge, the dangers and what almost seems impossible. Cannes is inspiration to the vein, because it is the great annual creative world.
jotabequ, this year and until today, JWT and ex-DDB Costa Rica are the agencies that have won Lions, which has already proven in three consecutive years that it can be done.
