And it happened! At Tribu, we had not known for weeks how many fingers to cross for our only bet in Cannes: Six Thousand Colors by Protecto. When I arrived at my room a few minutes ago, after a scenic 12 and a half kilometers running by the sea in the direction of St. Tropez, my wife greeted me with the news: she made it to the Short List.
Here’s the way it is. The category in Media where it has entered to compete for Leon is Fast Moving Consumer Goods and has 7 other pieces competing for metal from Turkey, Hong Kong, Canada, Thailand, India, Chile and Israel. Our Costa Rican piece is up for a Lion, however, it will be the judges who will have the last word on an opportunity we have been seeking for years.
I don’t know the material competing with our case, coming from Leo Burnett Sydney, DDB Hong Kong, Leo Burnett Bangkok, TBWA Santiago and Shalmor Avnon from Tel Aviv. What I don’t like about the list is that Hong Kong repeats with two entries and Bangkok as well, indicating that their entries passed with two good level pieces per agency.
Lion or not, of course, we are very pleased to see our piece among the finalists, and of course, with options for the feline mechudo in whatever color you want to give yourself. Between today and tomorrow we will know if it made it through in Cyber, while reviewing the list in Outdoor digital we see that it did not advance, which in a way did not come as a surprise to me because it seems to me that it was our entry with the least options.
So with the dice rolled, we are among the chosen ones. Now we have to put the saints on our heads, knot the rope we want, obviously and above all, to put it in prayer and wait for the jury’s decision. Tribu DDB has already won and of course, along with JWT and jotabeqú so far, very happy to have Costa Rica with finalists for another year.
Now let the Lions come!
