For decades I have lived in an environment of creativity, innovation and idea generation. Chilling daily challenge, if I can put it in three words. However, nothing is more exciting than finding a new idea, a new way of looking at the everyday, and especially when it is an idea that can change the world and make it better.
Steven Johnson, author of Where Good Ideas Come From, has made an important contribution to the question with his recently published book. His ideal complement is added with the video I include above and talks like the one below, posted on TED. In the latter we see him focused on telling a story and the space that best serves the ideas as a bed for sex (I invite you to take advantage of the subtitles).
At a naughty moment like 10/10/2010 at 10:10 a.m., it made perfect sense to me to propose a pointed focus on how to drive more creativity, improve the proliferation of ideas and add an innovation proposition. This is done by Johnson after his many years of research into the concept of the “liquid network” that facilitates ideas.
And any better combination of digital elements? We use my blog, plus his videos, TED as a source of inspiration with ideas to share, a book and a moment in life. Perhaps an opportune one to insist on the essence of creativity and design that should move us every day, focused on contributions and improvements that can be sustained over time. Are we on the same page?
I often thank God for the spectacular opportunity he has given me to live in these exciting times. As never before, there is a legitimate opportunity around every corner, every click and every page or screen to take advantage of every possibility to serve and make a difference.
Happy 10/10/10!
