The Ojo de Iberoamérica awarded a brand new regional Gold to “Puppy” by Protecto, reaffirming what many of us thought: in the last Pregonero Darío Lanis, Alejandro Aguilera and Miguel Ángel Barahona excessively punished a winning piece, for sending a message to a poor average in the category and of low level. They denied us a more than deserved Pregonero, as the Ojo de Iberoamérica has now proven.
In case you haven’t heard “Puppy” before, I include it here along with the other spots of the campaign. Let me clarify that the first one is the winning piece in this week’s Ojo Local, that is, in Central America and the Caribbean.

Today I think it was a Pregonero jury that really ran it over, and it is clear that it was a jury in the Ojo that rescued it. As they say at McCann, truth be told: no matter how much pedigree, a jury knows what to award. While they decided to deny him a statuette, here is his recent tour (without Cannes):
- Gran Volcán de Radio (Costa Rica).
Volcán Gold (Costa Rica).
Bronze FIAP (Argentina).
Gold in Caribe (Panama).
Silver in Antigua (Guatemala).
Special Honorable Mention Pregonero de Bronce (Costa Rica).
Local Gold Ojo de Iberoamérica Central America/Caribbean (Argentina).
In fact, I add that I think about our pieces in that contest and I think they were to receive more than what this trio gave to Tribu DDB, one mention after another. However, that’s water under the bridge. The Eye has brought us great satisfaction, only about three days after the Effie surprised us with the big award of the night.
In the meantime, once again, huge congratulations to everyone in the Tribu creative connection, and most particularly in this case to those who created an unforgettable radio piece. Now of course, it’s up to us to top it, as 2011 is just around the corner, and everything is going nutty, as they say in Mexico.
Hugs!
