A new category will be launched: Mobile. It will be removed from the Cyber section and a new competition area will be created at the Festival. It will be opened in recognition of the growing number of entries competing in mobile, as well as the undeniable reality of the growth it will have worldwide.
All subject to confirmation by the Festival, two new sections will also be created: Branded Content and in Creative Effectiveness there will be relevant modifications. In the latter category, a detailed analysis is being made to make the necessary adjustments to improve participation. Details of these new sections will be published in the coming weeks.
A new category will be opened to enter the Festival: Young Suits Registration Academy, aimed at planners and accounts. With the creation of this category, a welcome message will be sent to all account and planning executives. In this participation incentive zone created for people under 28 years of age, the festival continues to be enthusiastic about attracting youth.
Given the number of delegates at Cannes, which generated lines and problems of all kinds during the festival, presentations at the Debussy will now be closed-circuited in the Ambassadors, a lounge that will be opened for this purpose. The Cannes experience will have adjustments and improvements, taking into consideration the amount of people that are arriving every year. It’s a good thing.
Cannes Connect will continue to be a source of communication, now supported by an opportunity with Cannes Connect Live. On the Riviera Terrace every evening will end from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, during the festival, with a free cocktail for delegates.
Cannes Chimera is an idea that will be promoted in 2012, although it is yet to be confirmed. The idea is that a brief will be given to the entire creative community of the world, possibly in partnership with the United Nations. The participants’ ideas will go to this super agency, Cannes Chimera, which will be formed by a creative from the Grand Prix winning agencies.
Cannes Lions is a constantly evolving organization. The prices will then also change and this time they will increase. The Delegate Registration for the whole week will rise to 2,399 Euros. Seven days for a student will go to 599 Euros and for a Young Creative it will be 1,199 Euros. It was not announced yet, but we can expect an increase in the price for registrations as well.
So far so good. The meeting continues with topics such as Spikes and Dubai, the organization’s festivals for Asia and the Near East. All topics related to the festival are discussed, spaces are opened and all topics are taken care of.
Let’s close with two examples of Mobile, the category that will have Grand Prix, 2 Golds, 6 Silvers and 11 Bronzes in 2012. Tesco was Grand Prix in 2011.
Between 400 and 450 entries are expected in Mobile. The cost per entry will be 399 Euros and the jury will be composed of 15 people, including digital creatives, mobile and application specialists. The criteria will be creativity, execution, user experience and design, as well as results (number of downloads, unique users, time of use, publicity generated).
