Purdy Motor is a client of Tribu DDB as of today. It didn’t happen 20 years ago or 10 years ago, but today. Because even though we tried several times before, finally everything is always in its time.
Returning from 5 years with McCann-Erickson Mexico in 1988, at the beginning of the incipient Consumer Publicidad, we made the first shot at the frame a few months later. However, we were clearly not prepared to take on the account of Purdy and his Toyota brand. I remember that in those days it went from MGM to the Leo Burnett of Victor Barriga and Luis Gonzalez, because we were not up to the task. It was not the right time because I was not ready.
Until today, the account won in Tribu that had been pursued for more years had been Grupo Kativo, with its brands Protecto and Glidden. When we finally won this great regional client, we did the math and found that we had been looking for them for 11 years. It was a huge satisfaction, it meant the life for us and today he is like all of them, a spoiled client. With Grupo Kativo and its brands we have achieved a thousand successes together, because when the right moment came, he became our client. It was not before or after.
About 4 years ago Walmart went out looking for a regional agency. We did our best juggling and although we had a pseudo Saatchi network in Central America, we were eliminated in the first round for not having the conditions to serve them. They were right and we set out to solve it over time. The opportunity arose and we switched to DDB, more doors opened and we created the Tribu DDB network with agencies in every country from Guatemala to Panama. Then last December we got the call and in February we formally started our commercial relationship with Walmart in their popular formats. So, it happened when it had to happen as we were ready and prepared.
If we review the entry of clients such as Grupo Monge, McDonald’s, Clorox, Bridgestone or BAC / Credomatic, just to name a few, each one brings a story that goes hand in hand with the right timing. For each client we were prepared when it was appropriate, and for this reason, it is very important to manage the energy, rhythm and cadence in each step. In all cases, we live in a permanent state of gratitude and commitment.
So, today we celebrate Purdy’s entrance to Tribu DDB with an intense, well prepared and happy induction lock-in. We worked hard and enjoyed from the very first moment, when we were surprised by Mrs. Merri at take-off.
Thank you so much! This new relationship is incredibly meaningful to us, so we are super grateful and welcome it with joy. If we do the math, I think we first sought her out about 23 years ago. God’s mills grind slowly, but they grind.
Nothing happens by accident. There are no such things as coincidences.
Everything in its own time.
Cheers!
