To 2012 with gratitude. The year 2012 will always be remembered with wide, high and deep gratitude. It has been a year like no other in virtually every dimension of my life, and therefore, it has been one of exploration, experimentation, innovation, discoveries, accomplishments, realizations and feelings. Many times we crossed lines and broke boundaries.
The accomplishments achieved in 2012 are remarkable and in some ways also awe-inspiring. Amongst much that has been sacrificed, this blog has been battered by the highest degrees of neglect it has been in since its inception. I have been distracted by a couple of topics that, due to their characteristics, have inhibited me from the exposure that publishing on the net implies.
While Tribu DDB grew explosively in proportions never before known by us, Bosz Digital continued its vertiginous pace until reaching 400 collaborators and the opening of our first company in Bogota. The other companies of the Tribu Group advanced at a steady pace, including the construction of a new and exciting building called Tributo, in parallel to all the agreements that prepare the new openings we will make in 2013. So, with a virtually reckless entrepreneurial pace, we took time and focused on Via Costarricense, the Openhouse and most recently, the campaign for the Costa Rican presidency of our dear friend, the Mayor of San Jose.
Because of the combination of issues and our commitment to becoming the most influential media group in Central America, we took opportunities that allowed us to take steps in that direction. Thus, our new relationships with Walmart, Purdy Motor, Nestlé, Cargill, Movistar and Universal provided us with additional opportunities. Still, personally, I had a year of unusual discoveries outside of advertising and digital territory.
Politics with a capital P entered life in a powerful way. Influence taken to the national dimension has been a space of exploration, of great possibilities and inspiring opportunities. Thanks to Via Costarricense, I have met wonderful people that I might otherwise have missed. I have also reconnected with extraordinary people and my life has been enriched among inspiring, educated, sensitive and committed human beings, as well as among dreams and illusions to make a difference, in the direction of achievements that will be visible to the whole country.
In our community, of course, the Openhouse has been my choice of spiritual life, with the wonderful opportunity it offers to be a different, fresh and renewed platform for an intimate relationship with God, completely outside of religiosity. The movement has been consolidated, and about 100 volunteers are regularly organized to receive about five hundred people between adults, children and teenagers, to bring them relevant messages in environments that remind them that knowing about God does not have to be boring.
Personally, 2012 added some wonderful stamps in our passport. From revisiting El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala, to mention three of the many additions in the area, to the more exotic ones such as Tanzania, Kenya, Emirates and Oman. The year is not over and so new stamps from faraway places are also on their way, which always arrive and bring experiences that nourish and edify. The weight on the scales remained acceptable and the physical exercise was regular, although no marathons for now. However, having said all this, nothing compares to family time, which I enjoyed abundantly, including the unforgettable experience of marrying off your daughter.
This year, I paraded my little girl on my arm until I gave her away to a wonderful young dentist, a sensational human being and my daughter’s chosen love for life. So the experiences added up, 2012 was intense, dense, emotional and powerful, leaving me with the feeling that life really begins at fifty, and that perhaps the peak is precisely at fifty-five, because this has been the best year of my life.
Not for nothing, but because I am deeply grateful in every way, I wanted to return for a few minutes to the blog and leave it written. Because to God I am infinitely grateful for life, for 2012, for so many blessings and for all that follows.
