In the year in which Apple celebrates 30 years of having launched Macintosh to the world, a new Apple commercial has come to fill our spirits with poetry.
This time it is with the text of an excerpt from the movie Dead Poets Society and naturally in the voice of Robin Williams.
What will be your verse in life? What will be the story they will tell about you? How do you want to be remembered?What will be your mark in the universe? If a word were to be placed on your tombstone, what would it be? And not to go so far, when walking wherever you think of, how do you want to be recognized?
Advertising, like whatever your occupation, can change the world if you set your mind to it. Its influence can be gigantic and that’s why every day we see more and more ads that make a difference. This is the text included in the iPad commercial, now adapted to our language:
We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering – these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love – these are what we stay alive for.
To quote Whitman, “O me, life! All these returning questions. From the endless parade of faithless faithless faithless, of cities full of foolish fools,.
“What’s the good of it all?”, O me. Answer: “That you are here, that life and identity exist. That the mighty drama of life goes on and that perhaps you will contribute your verse”.

What will your verse be?
Impossible to advance on the keys with this publication without rescuing that moment of that movie that touched our souls, oh captain my captain, and that forever sealed us with carpe diem.
What will be your verse? What’s good in all this? That you are here, with a life ahead of you to build your own identity. That life goes on amidst obstacles and adversity, opportunities and possibilities, for you to make your mark, your contribution, your verse.
Above all that has happened, what is happening today and what is to come, it is time to write it.
