My blogging debut was back in 2005 when I first wrote a few lines here, on the Slow Burn blog, named A Fuego Lento in Spanish. Since then, it has certainly lived up to its name; I’ve gone through periods of writing intensely while I’ve spent others not writing anything at all. It has all depended on other commitments and how much time I have to spare.
However, in the past 15 years, I can’t think of a time when I’ve been less active when it comes to pursuing my writing as I have been recently.
By concentrating my efforts on decluttering my life and selling out companies, I’ve neglected my own personal ventures, causing the character and spirit of my blog to gradually fade.
Today, I’m starting to get my blog-related creative juices flowing again, keen to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and see what happens.
I’m not oblivious to the fact the world is a very different place now, covid19 included. Initially I found myself driven away from blogging by online trolls and it angers me to think they were able to do their damage anonymously, cowering away behind fake names.
I found that making elements of my life public on the Internet gave others an excuse to belittle and bully. So, naturally, I started to distance myself from writing – in fact, I practically disappeared.
But it’s all water under the bridge now. Today, I’m deciding to return to my humble corner of the Internet and pick up where I left off, writing from the soul and the heart. I will not write on La Nacion newspaper anymore, though.
There isn’t necessarily a motive behind this; it’s more of an exercise in creativity, one that involves placing my fingers over the keyboard and seeing what flows.
If you’re reading this now, firstly I’d like to say welcome. Now that I’m back, I’m definitely keen to share plenty with you, even the more intimate and private aspects of my life. This seems to be what many people are doing at the moment, and I’d like to follow their lead.
