Obviamente, no tengo la menor idea de qué libro o revista estás leyendo. Sin embargo, a un lado de lo que pueda ser, estoy absolutamente seguro de que en este momento estás leyendo mi blog.
Y aún así, casi adivino, esto me hace sentirme culpable, pues hay mucho más y mejor que hacer con tu tiempo. De todo lo que hay para leer en el mundo, ¿y vos en esta pantalla? Jmmmm… no lo se… ¡Tal vez el culpable seás vos! ¿No creés?
Por si las dudas, en todo caso, dejame recomendarte un libro recién salido del horno: Outliers. Lo escribe uno de los autores más influyentes de los últimos tiempos, Malcolm Gladwell, quien después de The Tipping Point y Blink, nos entrega una nueva pieza de pensamiento y sensatez que no te podés dejar sin inyectar en tu cerebro, tu pensamiento, tus razones. (…pienso yo).

think this is the way in which Outliers is a lot like Blink and Tipping
Point. They are all attempts to make us think about the world a little
differently. The hope with Tipping Point was it would help the reader
understand that real change was possible. With Blink, I wanted to get
people to take the enormous power of their intuition seriously. My wish
with Outliers is that it makes us understand how much of a group
project success is. When outliers become outliers it is not just
because of their own efforts. It’s because of the contributions of lots
of different people and lots of different circumstances— and that means
that we, as a society, have more control about who succeeds—and how

“Outlier”

normal experience. In the summer, in Paris, we expect most days to be
somewhere between warm and very hot. But imagine if you had a day in
the middle of August where the temperature fell below freezing. That
day would be outlier. And while we have a very good understanding of
why summer days in Paris are warm or hot, we know a good deal less
about why a summer day in Paris might be freezing cold. In this book
I’m interested in people who are outliers—in men and women who, for one
reason or another, are so accomplished and so extraordinary and so
outside of ordinary experience that they are as puzzling to the rest of
us as a cold day in August.
En Costa Rica vivimos demasiado influidos por la idea de ser iguales. Posiblemente esto explique al serrucha pisos o al choteador, pues ante la falta de argumentos, cuando alguien se destaca, rápidamente aparecen los recursos populares que proponen igualar.
Este libro, Outliers, por tanto, trata de un tema contra cultura en nuestro país, se concentra en explicar el éxito y lo descubre en muchos factores externos, en otros del entorno y ciertamente en lo que Gladwell llama suerte, aunque tengo un conflicto directo con ese último concepto.
