I have not been able to decide. I am fascinated by the first light of day and I love the sky when the sun goes down. Which one do you like the most? Which is your most memorable sunrise? And which sunset?
As I write this note, the sun rises on the horizon of the Atlantic sea. It is a natural spectacle that we live in our sleep most of the time, and that reminds us how wonderful everyday life can be, and how easy it is to ignore it (just keep on sleeping).
Here I leave you a quick photo of this instant when the day breaks to the sound of the waves, the seagulls and a few early risers. What a wonderful way to start this Sunday.
There are many unforgettable sunrises, do you remember any in particular? I have many memories of the sunrise that I will always carry with me.
In fact, I remember a distant one and that’s why I looked for a photo to briefly share that unforgettable experience, which happened simply because we imagined it possible (everything has happened twice). The image comes from a sunrise in the sands of the Sahara about four years ago, after sleeping under the open sky under heavy and smelly Bedouin blankets.
The emotions were deep and so was the cold. In the area known as the “white desert” nature is lived to the fullest, although the usual standards of hygiene are best left at home, as in Osa or Tortuguero, because the sun rises every day in every corner of the earth. As it happens in Osa or Tortuguero, because the sun rises every day in every corner of the earth. Let the early risers say so!
I remember the dawn of November 3, 2003, when about 100 people climbed the Irazú to present the name Tribu, after 15 years calling it Consumer. We decided to do it without Powerpoint or drinks, far from a hotel and in an inspiring way. We went to the volcano and there, on some plaques on the neck, we presented the name, which more than a brand, was assumed as a commitment. You can’t call yourself Tribu and not be one.
At sunset, when the sun goes down and the stars appear, the memories are also countless. From when I used to do the voiceovers at Radio Mil for the program “Al Atardecer” to Tamarindo filming for Del Campo juices, from the skies that we enjoyed so much in Santa Ana, to that impressive moment when we lived a gift of life when we enjoyed the Everest painted golden at sunset and in the distance.
This photo was a click from the Kalapatar at 5,550 meters of elevation, and from there in a box in front of dozens of peaks dressed in gold. The sun was going down and because of this, the 5,000 meter mountains went out first. Then those of 6 thousand and so continued to darken those of 7 thousand meters above sea level. At the end, for a few seconds, the only illuminated peak corresponded to the highest on the planet. It was an indescribable and truly exciting show of God. The temperature was dropping at full speed and the cold was penetrating to the bone.
The impressive thing about the spectacle at every sunrise and sunset is that it happens every day. If we enjoy them awake and with our eyes wide open, we can take them with us as a gift from heaven forever. If we miss it, it happens just the same. There it is waiting for us for two appointments for each date on the calendar.
Everyday life need not be any less exciting. If we live in the today and in the now, let us not allow the day to pass without leaving us its gift. Each day is to be lived as a small life.
So go the thoughts of this early morning awakening, although I confess that after this typing I have managed to decide on one: dawn.
