I feel safe flying. As I write I listen to “Mr. Tough”, from a playlist I bought on iTunes called Outdoor Freedom. The headphones I’m wearing isolate the ambient noise and generate a sense of isolation that fascinates me, as everything continues on this flight from Taca to Costa Rica, while I connect with you like this.
After a long and mystical one-day session in Antigua, where I proposed the renaming of a country, together with Bernal Esquivel, Karen Steele and Monica Dorst, from Tribu, last night I stuck my ear to my pillow at about 9 o’clock at night, and didn’t take it off until dawn. (By the way, the piece changed and it’s very interesting. It’s by Matmos and it’s called Steam and Sequins for Larry Levans. The louder the better). We stayed at the Panza Verde and there, we connected with the incomparable magic of that town in the middle of the mountains of spectacular Guatemaya.
I rested so much that I don’t remember in a long time this level of relaxation. Last night I stumbled upon silence, antiquity, candles and a perfect room to rest, silent and slow, without internet and with a different perspective of time. My injury to my right Achilles tendon has stopped me and I haven’t run for a month, and perhaps, it also helped me to simply surrender to time, hours and rest, for a night.
I feel safe flying. Even on a journey like this one, full of charged clouds and continuous leaps in the Central American air that I’ve traveled for several decades. As I type and pass the pieces of this fun musical selection, I am reconnecting with the projects in process, with the days ahead and the challenges ahead.
I love the idea of Monday, because I will be with university students again, this time at the Uveritas auditorium, where I will present Lovemarks and its effect on the brands that have embraced this path. I will share data that supports the power of this idea, as well as the motivations that ignite our commitment to this direction. I am also excited on Monday because we will have in Tribu an inspiring presentation of Yoga at its best, perhaps to initiate a new connection of people attuned to this ancient discipline.
As we begin the month of June and are about to reach the halfway point of this year, I am also very excited to continue working with our clients, who entrust us with their brands and allow us to contribute with our ideas. Also, in the contest for Yogurt Dos Pinos, where 5 or 6 agencies participated, we found an additional exciting opportunity, which without a doubt, we would love to connect with this fabulous cooperative, leader in the region.
June 2007 is also a fabulous occasion, because Cannes is coming and on this occasion, I will participate as Delegate and through the eyes of Carlos Jimenez and Paula Guevara, in the Young Creatives Film Competition in which a Costa Rican duo will make its debut.
I feel safe flying. In an airplane or with my imagination. (I finish while listening to Gorillaz and my favorite piece of theirs: DARE).
