It is very interesting. The longer I’m in Costa Rica and the more involved I get, the more I love Costa Rica and what I do. The farther I travel and disconnect, the more I want to travel, get to know and discover, getting even farther away.
I guess it is normal and there must be many explanations, from one and fourteen different points of view. My attention is drawn to live the phenomenon and in its context, trying to understand what I really want.
When I am in the country, I want more and not the same, but better, evolved, different. When I am traveling, I receive and learn more, better, advanced and certainly different. In two or three lines and without further elaboration, I discover that it is a thirst for the same type of refreshment that I find, where on one side I receive it daily and on the other, I have to seek it eagerly.
What I want is indeed the best, the different, the innovative, the daring, what has past, present and future, what adds and nourishes, what has mystery, intimacy and sensuality. When I am in Costa Rica, the more I seek to push, to create, to innovate, to adopt, to pull, to do, to direct, to influence. When I’m on the road I feel it’s easier for me to take, adopt, adapt, take note and be influenced. And of course, neither position is pure and there will always be a mix, a hybrid or cocktail that will take ingredients from one and the other, as it is hardly a departmentalized life, but rather an integrated one.
I also live the natural phenomena with exercise. When I run every day, I want to run more. When I stop doing it, I settle down and move away from training. Likewise in my relationship with God, when I am focused and active, I get closer and more engaged. When I pull away it becomes harder to sustain my daily relationship. When I’m working at full throttle mentally ill schedules, I feel like I don’t have time for anything but work, whereas when I take time for other things, I feel like I can handle work as well as anything else.
If all this makes any sense, then perhaps we are talking about a principle that should have a name and a surname, a natural law that should have volumes of books and even movies or novels.
